Northeast Blacksmith's Association -- Minutes of Spring 2009 Hammer-in Meeting-May 1, 2009

Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM by Jonathan Nedbor

Call for meeting adgenda items from the membership

Discussion on past events

Discussion on the use of the list serve to inform the membership of serious illness or death of members. Another suggestion was to use our web site, (NBA.org) to provide better overall connection of everybody for all purposes.

Tim:
Asked group if they were interested in getting Ashokan Center e-mails and newsletters, and If so to let him know.

Jonathan:
Asked for nominations for Vice Presedent to replace Mitch . Frank Shaw was was nominated and unanimously voted in as new vice president.

Report on regional meet. - It was a huge success both fiancially and socially. There were issues that were discussed regarding future meets of that magnitude. In the future. Maybe as soon as 20011.

Discussion on the impact of air polution legislation as it relates to blacksmithing..

Tim:
Financial report. - Iron in the Hat brought in $370

A discussion then developed on the needs of tools and materials for the contiuation and improvement of our "Green Coal" activity. Jonathan reccomended and the membership approved of the following:

Purchase of new tires for the blacksmith trailer
Purchase of an anvil from Doug Delury
Purchase of hardys
Needs that were also noted were additional metal pails, hammers, and ratcheting straps for binding vises to vertical beams.

Suggestions for demonstrators for next hammer-in that will be held on the 2-3-4th of October.
