SPRING HAMMER - IN 2001 Bobby Hansson
For our Spring meeting we had something new and interesting. Our demonstrator was Bobby Hansson, of Rising Sun, Maryland. Bobby is very talented, funny and as he says "I've been working metal professionally since 1957, so I must know something about it". He has recently completed a 7 foot high by 24 foot long fence in the Whitehall Street Station for the NYC Subway System. He is the lead smith at the Steppingstone Farm Museum in Maryland, and he has taught workshops around the country. Bobby has two other claims to fame. First, he is a well known crafts photographer, and secondly he is the author of the very popular book The Fine Art of the Tin Can. This is a book that features objects made out of tin cans, by a number of contemporary metalsmiths, including himself.
